Noir Quote

Letterboxed, grainy and slow. Italic serif words drift in out of the dark.

Cinematic title-card style for quotes, trailers and brand films. Letterbox bars, animated film grain, a slowly rotating shaft of light, and words that fade in one at a time from a soft blur before a widely tracked title.

Nothing moves faster than 1s. Let the last word breathe before the fade.

Transitions and text

  • slow cross-fade (1.0s)
  • fade through black
  • word-by-word blur fade (0.22s stagger, 1.1s each)
  • slow scale settle on attribution and title (1.08–1.12 → 1)

Style guide your agent follows

  1. Always keep the 130px black letterbox bars and the grain layer (SVG turbulence, ~16% opacity, stepped drift) on top.
  2. Words fade in individually: opacity 0, y 14, blur 6px → sharp, 1.1s, 0.22s stagger, power1.inOut.
  3. Quotes are italic Playfair at ~82px, centered, max two lines. Attribution sits under a thin 140px rule in tracked uppercase Cormorant.
  4. Nothing faster than 1s, no bounces, no saturated color. The only light source is a soft warm beam drifting a few degrees.
  5. Transition with a 1s fade to black, then reveal the title with a slow scale settle from 1.08 (transforms only; letter-spacing tweens stutter in frame-by-frame renders).
